IT equipment is an often-overlooked source of cross contamination in healthcare settings, schools, offices and restaurants. Studies confirm that pathogens can survive on contaminated surfaces like keyboards, mice, touchscreens and mobile devices for prolonged periods of time, and viruses like MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) surviving on keyboards up to six weeks. With warm surfaces providing an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and viruses to spread, handwashing alone is not enough to prevent the spread of contamination – routine disinfecting of IT equipment has become critical in prioritizing workplace safety.
